Prokyon ist Bestandteil des Wintersechsecks und des Winterdreiecks. Wie Sirius ist Prokyon ein Doppelstern β der Hauptstern Prokyon A, ein weiΓlich-gelber Stern der Spektralklasse F5, hat einen leuchtschwachen Begleiter 11. GrΓΆΓe, Prokyon B, der ein WeiΓer Zwerg ist. Die Umlaufperiode des Doppelsternsystems betrΓ€gt 41 Jahre. Der scheinbare Winkelabstand betrΓ€gt ca. 4,7β³.cite-ref-apj119-2-4-1[4]
